EAD801: Leadership in Organization Development

Instructor: Nancy Colflesh

The course was my first foray into leadership, and really introduced me to a lot of the background into the topic. The class was particularly strong about leadership in group settings, which I was able to apply to my current setting. Our final task was to write a research paper and final reflective paper. The research paper  deals with principalship in Chinese education. Due to my Chinese language ability, my understanding of Chinese culture, and the connections that I have made in 5 years in China, I was allowed unique access into the mindset of Chinese educators. My reflective essay synthesizes much of the information that I learned over the semester. The reflective essay can be found on the right of the page, while the research paper can be found in the showcase page.

CEP882: The Nature and Design of Compelling Experiences

Instructor: David Wong

This course explored creativity through specific fields such as architecture, film making, graphic design, music, photography, and theater. In fact, after taking this class I started thinking about unifying my experiences in the class with the curriculum for my Chinese students. The knowledge of many different types of technology was required for the course, which I also have incorporated into my Chinese curriculum. On the left is an example of my music creativity project, as well as there being two other examples of creativity on the showcase page. Overall, the class really opened my eyes to creativity, and made me believe in myself.

Our task was to choose a song and show why it was compelling. I chose We Used to Vacation by the Cold War Kids.
