Reading

Truthfully I never read a full length book in high school. It wasn't until college that I discovered a passion for reading. In the time frame of my being in the MAED program, I read over one hundred books. While not all of the books were fun, I did get a lot of knowledge out of them.

Video Games

I started playing video games when I was 5 years old, and they influenced the way that I think. I am always looking for the exit door, and I see every other door as the path of getting there. I really like offline RPGs, or role-playing games, because I can get lost in them. My favorite video-games are the Mass Effect series, and the Elder Scrolls Series. I would love to, one day, write a video game, and as we will see with the Mass Effect series that is being made into three movies, there is a lot of power in this medium.

Running

I love long-distance running, and am surprisingly good at it for someone with short legs and a round belly. I ran a half marathon with my friend in a little under two hours. In the fall, I ran the 1/4 marathon in Hangzhou, China in 71 minutes, when I was very sick.

Family of six

I am the youngest son from a big family. My oldest sister is 16 years older than me, I already 10 nieces and nephews, and one grand niece. We are a hard working and very caring bunch, that loves spending the holidays together. Unfortunately, as I am living in China year round, it makes it difficult to see everyone. I wouldn't change having a big family for anything in the world, and I really feel it was one of the most important factors in making me who I am.

Baseball

I love baseball, and really believe it is the most complicated sport to learn and the most difficult to play. I even teach it to my Chinese students in a week course, for which they said it was uniquely logical, yet absolutely frustrating.

Football (the American kind)

There is no single position in all of sports that gets more fame, is more fun, and is extremely difficult to find than a QB. Just ask my Detroit Lions. It is really fun to play, no matter the level.

Basketball

First, let me say that I live in China, and I dislike the NBA. But there is no team, in any sport, that I love watching more than my MSU Spartans. The NCAA is just my cup of tea. I will admit that LeBron James is the greatest athlete in the world, maybe ever, but the NBA doesn't get me excited anymore.

I very much like writing. I feel that this year, in the MAED program, really brought out my creative and academic talents. Creatively, I get inspiration from everything that I interact with. Waiting for a taxi for more than two hours one day in Hangzhou gave me inspiration for a screenplay. Currently I have four ideas that I have written down in depth, that I am just waiting to find some time to finish.

Engagement

I recently proposed to my long-term girlfriend and we are planning on getting married next year. She is the love of my life, and we are extremely happy together. She always makes me smile, and makes my life a little easier.

Miao Miao and Banchee

We have two cats, one white, one grey, one devil, one angel that we love very much. They are just over a year old and couldn't be much more different in personality.
